My work strives to capture a particular memory or characteristic from original photography. I adapt a photograph using hand screen-printing techniques to produce distinct and original works of art. I aim to create prints that appear simple and uncluttered in order to allow the personality of the image to shine.

After gaining a Textile Science and Design degree at Huddersfield University, I went on to Winchester School of Arts to graduate with an MA in Textile design. since then, my main career has been as a commercial textile designer for a well known homes furnishing studio and as a studio assistant to an artist. In recent years I have concentrated on freelancing and have recently rediscovered my passion for screen printing. I now work solely on my own series prints or on a commission basis.

Once a photograph has been chosen, the image goes through a number of stages before completion. First, the photograph is stripped back to a line drawing. the new image is reconstructed with this template, by building up with layers of colour. This is achieved by combining two screen-printing techniques of layering hand cut stencils with the photographic line drawing. Each colour is individually screen-printed one a time in acrylic media onto quality paper.

Commissions

These individual prints are an opportunity to own an original and sensitive representation of personal imagery. The hand-screen printed images are a wonderful keepsake, capturing a particular memory of a place, event, a special person or even a much-loved pet. All that is required is your chosen photograph; this can either be in digital or print format.

Series Prints

These prints are inspired by travel, nature or just things that make me smile. I take my camera to most places and love to see the transformation of images to individual art works, challenging myself to capture that particular moment in time. The prints are unique as each print run is limited, with between 8 to 12 hand screen-prints per series.
